As some of you who have been with me for a while know, this has been a rough year. I have focused on the health of my husband and taken the stress of the day out in chocolate. Peanut butter chocolate no bakes to be exact. They just made me feel better and if one was good two would be better and then four started working too!! Needless to say I have put on the weight. I weigh more than I have ever weighed in. my. life!!! And that includes the time when I was pregnant with twins and delivered 6 lbs. 14 oz. EACH twins. Hello.
So today my honey and I started working out. I haven't worked out in a decade. This post may be for the one who is in the same position I am in. I thought I wouldn't be able to do it. I thought my heart wouldn't let me. I didn't think my lungs would be able to handle it. I thought my muscles couldn't go that far. But they did. They all did. The first five minutes on the bicycle were probably the worst. My leg muscle did burn and I felt like I had a hitch in my
git-a-long, but I just stopped and stretched it out and started back again. I ended up riding the bicycle for 10 minutes and walked on the treadmill for thirty.
And you know what? It felt good. I got past, way past, the burn. I felt for the first time in a long time the euphoria of exercising.
I'm tired of not being able to go in my closet and pull out what I want to wear that day and be able to wear it. It's time for me to just look cute. I want my body back and I'm gonna get it.
So today is the first day of the rest of my life.
Stay tuned for further updates in my midlife battle of the bulge.
And thank you for being here.

Congrats to you and your hubby! My cowboy and I started working out about a month ago. We love it. It's been a great way for us to connect; we run together, we ache together, we moan together, and laugh together. HA !!
Good Luck to you guys!!
Congratulations! I know how you feel. I have 3 grown children and 6 grandbabies. Thanks to the good ole "meno...." I weight more than I ever have and I HATE it. Last week I started walking every morning. Today I walked 2 miles. I feel like I have accomplished bundles, now if the muffin top will just start to shrink!! Keep up the good work.
I made that commitment 2 and a half years ago and I am still at it. I can run 3 miles, lift weights, fit in my clothes, do front hand springs when I want, etc. I always feel grumpy when I don't get my workout in and worthwhile when I do. Good luck to you and your husband.
Good luck to both of you! Such a turning point when the mind gets in gear, isn't it?
Hey sweetie,
I was gonna email ya but I didn't see it on your profile. You go girl!!! It's all about being healthy!
I've been sick. Five weeks ago I caught a nasty virus and my back went out at the same time. Put me down hard for most of the week. Just when I thought I'd beaten the bug and back I developed the worse case of shingles I've ever seen. First they exploded all over my back in six different places and one place on my chest. I could dry up the old ones with my essential oils but dang if I didn't keep developing more. I've had sever pain and swelling. I've had the things up my neck, on my face, in my hair and on all of my limbs. The constant pain has really taken a toll on me too. Emotions are high. I'm thrilled to say that I haven't developed any new ones the past two days. I've had the things pushin' four weeks now. Anything I do exasperates the pain....even tying.
Thanks for check in....I have the best blogsisters. Your prayers are precious to me and much appreciated. I WILL beat this!
God bless and have a glorious day!
Congrats to you both. Good luck with the work out...Pat H
Hi Jerri, my husband is the force that helps our family eat right and exercise. (He is the cook after all) I depend on him a lot to steer me away from the chocolate ice cream {my vice} and head towards a healtier life style. Kudos to you guys, you can do it!!
To answer your questions: I used a common hammer to flatten out the spoon, that was easier than I expected...bending the handle, not so much...I used the hammer to start the bend and pliers to get it finished. It would probably work great if I had a vice, but I didn't have one. The little turquiose flowers are vintage clip on earrings, love those! :)
Thanks for stopping by and your sweet comment!
Bless your heart and good luck to you and your hubby. I too have added tons of weight but because I became paralyzed with MS three years ago. So there is no exercise for me, I just get bigger. But I sure wish I could be there with you, at least I am in soirit. I signed on as a follower so I will be able to keep up with want you are doing. Good luck!!
How very, very encouraging! I've been talking to myself "I want to run, I want to run" but so far, my legs haven't gotten the message. I'm at the same point you are, and with my oldest son getting married in October, I've got to get with the program. Thanks!
